French barometer, Felletta Lyon
Description
A rare version on a cabinet glued with walnut veneer with a blackened frame. It has beautifully engraved and gilded scale plates.
The mercury barometer indicates air pressure in French thumbs, engraved on both sides of the glass tube. At the bottom right of the scale plate is a knob that sets the blued steel trend pointer to the height of the mercury column. This way you can read at a later time how much the barometer has risen or fall. That will give you an indication of how the weather might behave.

The mercury thermometer indicates the temperature in degrees Celsius. engraved on both sides of the tube. Various maximums and minimums are indicated for places and years; A.o. Syria, Senegal, St Petersburg and dates from 1709 to 1810.
